Floyd County Agriculture Center Project Moving Forward
Now that architectural plans have been finalized for the Floyd County Agriculture Center, bids will soon be solicited for grading work on the property off Three Mile Road.
The Agricultural Center is a citizen-submitted Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) project, approved by voters in 2017.
The site plans include a main event building featuring several large, multi-use spaces which can be combined to accommodate gatherings of over 500 people. The building will also house conference suites, catering-accessible kitchens, and offices for the Agriculture Center, 4-H and Extension.
“We look forward to the prospects that a facility like this can bring to Floyd County and northwest Georgia as a whole,” Floyd County Agriculture Center Director Kate Harman said. “This center has a unique opportunity to bring all aspects of the ag community together and be a resource for all, as well as promoting the support of these industries through education and tourism.”
The buildings on the complex will follow a rustic aesthetic and include a covered main arena. The large arena, designed to accommodate various disciplines, can also be partitioned to create multiple show areas or used as a covered market and event space.
Outside the covered arena, outdoor spaces will support a variety of multi-use programs.
Barns designed to house various species will be located in the northeastern corner of the property, each with drive-up access, to support a variety of events. For those traveling to the center for weekend events, RV sites will be available, each with water and power hookups, along with an on-site bathhouse.
These changes are part of a redesigned site plan which is compliant with a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers approved process after wetlands were discovered during timber clearing in 2024. With that new site plan, the project can move forward once again.
The next step for the center is to solicit site grading bids—a process expected to take five to six months—and begin constructing a facilities building to house equipment during ongoing construction.
