ROME CIRCUIT MENTAL HEALTH COURT - STAR PROGRAM

 

Mission Statement
The mission of the Rome Circuit Mental Health Court STAR Program is to reduce the rates of incarceration and hospitalizations for the mental health participant by providing judicial guidance, intensive supervision, treatment, and community support.

The RCMHC strives to integrate treatment with the justice system, reduce recidivism, improve mental health, promote self-sufficiency, citizenship, and enhance public safety.

 

STAR Program

The RCMHC STAR Program is an 18-24 month program, with five (5) phases. Participants must complete evidence-based treatment groups, attend in-house counseling, random drug screening, employment verification, curfew checks, and weekly court appearances.

 

Linkage to GED classes, housing, and much more!

 

Participation fee: $1,000.00

 

Legal Eligibility

  • Must be 18 years of age or older;

  • Must be a resident of Floyd County;

  • Must be facing charges which can result in at least 18 months of incarceration;

  • Must not be a registered sex offender;

  • Must not be a confirmed gang member;

  • Must have been charged with or convicted of a crime in Floyd County in which there is a reasonable likelihood that, but for the defendant's mental illness, the crime would not likely have been committed;

  • Must not be charged with or have been previously convicted of:

    • murder; murder second degree

    • kidnapping

    • home invasion

    • armed robbery

    • crimes sexual in nature

    • drug trafficking

    • or any current firearm charges

  • Must be mentally competent to voluntarily enter into the program
