Coroner's Office

In 2018, the morgue was completed and put into full operation at the former Animal Control facility on Mathis Road.  Floyd County has the capability to handle eighteen deceased individuals, and in disaster situations the morgue is equipped to handle more.  The building houses a complete investigative area for police agencies and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to utilize.

The facility features a viewing room for families of the deceased so that families can identify or simply see their loved ones without any danger of cross-contamination. Families are brought into a comfortable environment with a large window and curtains for viewing.
