Proposal submitted by citizen for an agriculture center with the potential for an arena, bar, coffee shop, dog park, farmers market, food trucks, Georgia Grown store, ice cream parlor, office spaces, etc.

Potential activities in the arena could include ag education for the community, clinics (gardening, landscaping, animal health, animal wealth, sustainable farming), workshops, livestock shows, FFA/4H events, meeting space.

1.30.2024 - Timber harvesting has begun on 34 acres of the property. Target date for construction is Summer 2024 with an opening in Fall 2025.

11.28.2023 - Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved Woodlands Enterprises, Inc. for timber removal at the site. Expected revenue for the purchase of the timber is $32,101.16.

11.16.2023 - Studio 8 site visit.

10.24.2023 - approval of Studio 8 Design as the architect for the Agriculture Center.

8.8.2023 - approval of Timber Consulting Contract with American Forest Management, Inc.

5.24.2023 - approval of Southern Engineering and Survey, Inc. to perform topography survey.

6.14.2022 - Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved a conditional assignment and assumption of land purchase and sale with Ewing Companies, LLC, Pinnacle Housing Partners, LP, and Floyd County to purchase twenty acres of land at $1,200,000.00. They also approved a conditional option for the purchase and sale of real property between Rome Mall, LLC, a Georgia limited liability company and Floyd County to purchase approximately twenty-four acres of land in the amount of $900,000.00. The property is located between US Highway 27 and the Armuchee Connector. It is east of Mt. Berry Square Mall and fronts Three Mile Road. It is adjacent to existing farm land, but it is centrally located with utilities. The property will be used to construct an Agricultural Center that was approved by citizens on the 2017 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) referendum. The Agricultural Center was budgeted at $8,000,000.00 in the SPLOST. The current SPLOST began collecting in April 2019.
