Detail Operations

Floyd County Prison offenders provide a workforce to enhance the operation of the county. The Detail division covers a wide array of detail assignments. In all, Floyd County Prison has 100 different details that work outside the prison’s guard line. On any given day, 250-300 state prisoners are working on various assignments in Floyd County. From skilled labor, such as mechanics and welders, to others that do not require skills, such as litter patrols, and the offenders are typically required to work forty hours a week. With a yearly average of 680,000 work hours, this labor force helps reduce the fiscal impact on local government operations.

Floyd County Prison’s Detail Division provides offenders for multiple departments within the county such as Public Works, Animal Control, and Recreation, as well as the City of Rome; Polk County; Dalton/Whitfield County; and Cartersville/Bartow County.

Criminal Investigation Division (CID)

CID is a division that falls under the Special Operations umbrella. The Division is supervised by the Deputy Warden of Security, and is comprised of investigators who hold dual certifications as Correctional Officers and mandated Peace Officers. The division conducts all criminal investigations for the agency.
