Recycling Transparency
It is a common misconception across the United States that recycling simply does not happen. People see their recycling bin get emptied into a trash truck, or they think the recycling truck goes straight to the landfill. In Rome and Floyd County, we are proud to recycle your household items and keep them out of our Walker Mountain Landfill. Seven full time staff are devoted to recycling in Floyd County, not to mention the staff with the City of Rome performing curbside operations. We want you to feel confident that your recyclable items are getting made into new items.
In an effort to provide more transparency to our citizens, we have listed the vendors below that we bid out products to. These vendors purchase fiber products (cardboard, sorted office paper, mixed paper, books), plastic (#1 PET plastic soda bottles, #2 natural jugs, and #2 colored jugs), and metal (aluminum, steel, and scrap metal). We also pay other vendors to take electronics and HHW. Keep on recycling, Rome!
