PUBLIC NOTICE - March 4, 2025:
Beginning on March 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. ending at 5:00 p.m., the Floyd County Board of Elections and Voter Registration office will be conducting Early Processing of Absentee by Mail Ballots at 18 East 12th Street, Rome. This process will continue each day between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each sequential day until all Absentee by Mail Ballots are processed, as time and staffing allow. Results tallying will not occur until polls are closed at 7:00 p.m. on March 18, 2025.
The Georgia Secretary of State’s Office has recently issued a bulletin with a directive as to absentee by mail ballot applications for voters meeting criteria of advanced age or disability. Based on this directive and the applicability to local special elections, the Floyd County Board of Elections and Voter Registration finds it important to provide clarification of O.C.G.A 21-2-381 (a)(1)(G) as it pertains to voters meeting the criteria of advanced age or disability.

In respect to Floyd County’s rich history, the Floyd County Board of Elections and Voter Registration has elected to alter the naming of what was previously known as the Coosa precinct, to now the Coosa (North Carolina) precinct, effective immediately. Originally, the Board decided to change the name from North Carolina to Coosa due to confusion within the electorate believing they had been registered to vote out of state.

At their Tuesday, August 6, 2024 meeting, the Floyd County Board of Elections & Registration voted on the relocation of the South Floyd Polling place from VFW Post 4911, 2632 Cedartown Hwy SW, Rome, to the new polling location at the Lakeview Building at Georgia Highlands College, 3175 Cedartown Hwy, Lindale.

The Floyd County Board of Elections will be holding an audit of the 2024 Nonpartisan General Election Runoff on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 beginning at 9:00 a.m. and concluding at 4:30 p.m. each day at the Election Center located at 18 E. 12th Street, Rome. This process is open to the public.

The Floyd County Board of Elections will hold an audit of the 2024 May General Primary and Nonpartisan General Election on Thursday, May 30 and Friday, May 31, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m each day at the Election Center located at 18 East 12th Street, Rome.
FOR MAY 15, 2024 RELEASE:
(Floyd County, GA) — The Floyd County Office of Elections and Registration has identified significant issues with absentee ballots placed in the mail service and the return rate of those absentee ballots. Over 400 ballots have been mailed for the May 21. 2024 General Primary/Nonpartisan Election, and less than 200 have been returned to the Elections Office for counting.
